A Buxton Gathering in Cambridge, MA - April 2026
On a spring evening in Cambridge, alumni from across the decades gathered at the home of Dirck Roosevelt '73 and Nancy Glowa '73.
The room spanned more than fifty years of Buxton history: John Guenther '61 (also former faculty and parent), Jeff Ladd '73, Kate Seeger '73, Alex Brooks '74 (former faculty), Eileen Ryan '78, JoHanna Flacks-Dunning '88, Zhana Morris '90, Becky Finer '94, and Aiury Cavallo '14. Kade, Buxton's Director of Development, traveled east for the occasion. For at least a couple of attendees, it was their first Buxton event since graduating.
The mood was warm and the conversation genuine. A recurring theme was the enduring meaning of a Buxton education — one attendee wrote that "Buxton contributed enormously to helping us find ways to live we think are worthwhile." Guests from earlier eras had questions about whether the school has changed; by evening's end, at least one said the gathering had helped him feel reconnected.
Beyond those in the room, the hosts were in touch with more than 15 additional alumni who had hoped to attend. All told, the event brought more than 25 alumni into fresh contact with Buxton and the BSAA.
Thanks to Dirck and Nancy for organizing and hosting, and to Kade for making the trip east. And to every alumnus who attended or reached out — it made a difference.
